None of the recycling centers around here take mixed paper, but I can't stand seeing my junk mail and old drafts go into the garbage. When in doubt, mulch!
As soon as the little mums and veronica got tucked into a new stone-framed bed, on went the mixed paper. Every cracker box and envelope went for a quick swim in a wheelbarrow of water first, but their fame was brief. I immediately covered my masterpiece of mail mulch with bark.
My tomatoes are wearing junk mail mulch, too, but the watermelons are the lucky ones. They got the final draft of The Great Cucumber Challenge (the current issue of Mother Earth News is an awesome achievement by an incredible staff).
But back to mail mulch. A prompt cover-up maneuver is essential, but it's kind of fun to read one mulch while covering it with another.
