Spunbonded rowcover is great when it's cold, but when you need summer bug or bird protection, a wedding veil works better. Had I not dressed the black raspberries in tulle, also known as wedding net, the birds would have beat me to every last berry. They were getting through the bird netting on the blueberries, so the best bushes are now dressed in tulle, too.
The most common version is 110 inches wide and comes in dozens of colors, and it's easy to bunch it up in clothespins to install it. To protect my eggplant from flea beetles I'm using a finer mesh, and so far it's working!
